Abstract

Wediscussherethat, unlikeoursociety, in theoralitysocieties, the oral, hasthepredominance, andtheorality must beanalyzed in its ownmateriality, butnotfrom its visibility in writinglanguages. Underthis approach, it ispossibletospeakabouttheconstitutionof a typeofmemory, whichismadebyformsofinscriptionthatallows, atthesame time,to preserve thehistoryofthegroupandtounderstand, in fact, whatisorality. So it isnecessarytoconcepttheorality as a productofhistory (whentherewas no passagetowriting) and as a socio-historicalplaceofproductionofmeanings, atlast, as a social practiceof a languagewith a specificmateriality, theorality. In addition, wecallattentiontothefactthattheinscriptionofmemoryistranslatedintodifferentformsofwriting, thosethat, notbeing in oppositionwithorality, constituteand define oralityitselfandconstitutethearchive in societieswhereoralitypredominates.
