This paper explores the narrative intricacies and intertextual dimensions within Lourenço Mutarelli's graphic novel A caixa de areia ou eu era dois em meu quintal (2005). Through a detailed analysis of its thematic and structural elements based on the theoretical framework of SILVA (2015), the narrative is revealed as a complex fusion of reality and fiction, memory and creation. Mutarelli's work challenges genre conventions, highlighting the porous boundaries between different art forms and questioning how art and narratives intersect. The exploration of rhythm and visuality explores the interconnectedness of storytelling across diverse media structures. Thematically, the A caixa de areia ou eu era dois em meu quintal’s narrative invites readers to engage actively with its discourse and philosophical debate about time, memory and the nature of our own reality.
