The “Brazilian Journal of Music” on its 90th Year

Resumo
The Brazilian Journal of Music presents a commemorative issue marking its 90th anniversary, dedicated to the themes of the History of Music in Brazil and Brazilian Musical Research, with the following sections: “Memória”, featuring an annotated translation of an essay by C. H. Hunsche on Wagner and Brazil, a translation of the corresponding primary sources, and a commentary article on the author and his contribution; “Artigos”, focusing on 19th-century Brazilian music and 20th-century musical research; “Entrevista”, presenting the testimony of researcher Antônio Alexandre Bispo; “Homenagem”, honoring Arthur Moreira Lima, Doctor Honoris Causa from UFRJ; “Resenha”, reviewing the Portuguese translation of Vincenzo Cernicchiaro’s Storia della musica nel Brasile; and “Arquivo de Música Brasileira”, featuring the edition of three Estudos for guitar by H. Villa-Lobos, transcribed for piano by José Vieira Brandão.
