Samba e negror dos tempos

Resumo

O artigo investiga os diálogos estabelecidos pela obra de Paulinho da Viola com seus contemporâneos da canção mediatizada no Brasil, que consagraram a sigla MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), bem como com o universo da tradição do samba, discutindo de que maneira sua postura de criador durante os anos mais duros do regime militar instaurado em 1964 soube agenciar os elementos necessários para a resistência e o vigor de sua produção artística. 

Abstract: The article investigates the relations established by the work of Paulinho da Viola and his fellow contemporaries of the music broadcasted by the media in Brazil, which celebrate the MPB (Música Popular Brasileira ― Brazilian Popular Music), as well as the connection with the traditional samba universe, discussing how he, playing the role of a compositor during the harshest years of the Brazilian military regime, managed to arrange the necessary elements to resist it and keep a vigorous artistic production
