The aim of the present work is to understand the spatial strategies of the homeless
inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro‘s public spaces in their struggle with the adversities of everyday life on the street. Invisibility is one of the strategies, which is related to a series of elements that are directly linked to urban public scenarios, such as public order, violence, privacy, light and shadow, mimicry and security. The production of ways of seeing and living in the city emerges as an important object of geographical inquiry.
