Abstract

The French school of Geography structured the discipline at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th Centuries. This school benefited from the initial surge of the discipline but over time lost contact with a changing world. Beginning in the 1960s the French school was progressively renewed (Claval, 1998; 2002).
