Abstract

In recent years interest has grown in Brazil concerning policies which induce
technological innovation which calls for a careful analysis of the scope and development of these policies. Theoretical and empirical reflection on the subject has been mostly carried out by economists and engineers and geographers are relatively absent from the debates. The aim of this study is to provide a review of classical texts concerning innovation which focus on spatial dimensions. Until recently few Brazilian geographers treated the subject of inducing technological innovation but this is changing and here light is shed on recent geographic studies treat the subject and a possible agenda is provided for research on this fundamental socio-spatial prism.
