This work has as main objective the study and analysis of the transformations that have occurred over the past decades a symbol of Rio's suburban landscape and changing their interpretation over time. In this case, it is the analysis of the symbolic change of an old existing textile mill in Rio's north zone, which turned into a major shopping mall. His new role introduced new practices and urban values previously did not exist in the locality, which enabled the symbolic and cultural reinterpretation in the suburbs of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
