This article is based on the thesis that agribusiness in Brazil is one of the driving forces behind the increasing fragmentation of its territory and the formation of regions
specialized in the production of certain agricultural products. The focus of the analysis is one such region, currently the main producer and exporter of melons in the country, located in the Semi-Arid and comprising municipalities in Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte, with Mossoró (RN) as the primary urban center. We conclude that the hegemonic agents of fruit agribusiness increasingly dominate the region's lands, workers, local power spheres, and the production of not only agrarian space but also urban and regional spaces.
