The industrialization process in Brazil and other South American countries has characteristics that, while bringing the urban structures of medium-sized cities closer together, should be seen as a historical process that manifests in different ways among them. Based on theoretical principles and notions to understand industrial location, we examine
industrial location in six Brazilian cities, one Argentine city, and one Chilean city. Utilizing research results developed collectively within the Network of Researchers on Medium-
-Sized Cities, we present the characteristics of each city through significant aspects of the industry and use cartographic representation as a way of visualizing this analysis.
