CULTURA ALEMÃ E TEUTO-BRASILEIRA EM TERRAS MINEIRAS: A HISTÓRIA DO TURNERSCHAFT-CLUB GYMNASTICO (1909-1979)

Abstract

O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar historicamente um dos primeiros clubes de ginástica de Minas Gerais, fundado em 1909 na cidade de Juiz de Fora. Este recebeu inicialmente, o nome de Turnerschaft-Club Gymnastico por ser uma instituição baseada, quando de sua fundação, nos preceitos difundidos pela cultura alemã, materializada nas atividades ginásticas preconizadas principalmente pelo alemão Friederich Ludwig Jahn. Foi um Clube Ginástico de grande representatividade na cidade chegando a ter em média 1000 associados na década de 1940. Percebemos que esta instituição foi uma grande incentivadora do esporte na cidade, divulgando principalmente atividades como a ginástica, basquetebol, atletismo e voleibol em um período em que estes esportes ainda não eram tão praticados e conhecidos na cidade. Fechado em 1979, por diferentes motivos, deixou para trás uma importante história de vitórias e conquistas além de uma importante influência para a história esportiva de Juiz de Fora e assim na formação de um cenário esportivo característico da cidade de hoje.

Abstract: The objective of this study is to analyze historically one of the first fitness centers of Minas Gerais, established in 1909 in the city of Juiz de Fora. This initially received, the name of Turnerschaft-Club Gymnastico to be a based institution when it was founded, the precepts broadcast by German culture, embodied in gymnastics activities mainly advocated by the German Friedrich Ludwig Jahn. It was a gymnastic club great representation in the city coming to have on average in 1000 associated in the 1940s realized that this institution was a great incentive the sport in the city, mainly disseminating activities such as gymnastics, basketball, volleyball and athletics at a time that these sports were not as practiced and known in the city. Closed in 1979, for different reasons, left behind an important history of victories and achievements as well as an important influence on the sporting history of Juiz de Fora and thus the formation of a characteristic sports scene of today's city.
