Abstract

The objective of this study was to understand women's football from the team formed at Ponte Preta Sport Club in the city of Jacareí/SP, with the intention of producing knowledge that can be problematized in School Physical Education classes. A documentary analysis was carried out in the Historical Archive of the municipality of Jacareí and a semi-structured interview with former athlete Luci Rocha. The empirical material was subjected to thematic analysis. The themes identified were: the neighbourhood team that became a national team and overcame prejudices due to female football players; Luci Rocha, the player who circumvented the dictatorship; important characters for the consolidation of women's football in the city of Jacareí; and memorable moments for the Ponte Preta team.
