HIPÓTESES PARA A POPULARIZAÇÃO DO FUTEBOL EM SÃO PAULO (1894-1920)

Abstract

Resumo: Este artigo tem por objetivo discutir os aspectos sociais e históricos envolvidos no surgimento do futebol, na cidade de São Paulo no final do século XIX, e seu desenvolvimento na metrópole, a partir das primeiras duas décadas do século XX. Serão analisadas as relações entre a modernização gerada pelo advento da urbanização de São Paulo, levando em consideração o aparecimento dos esportes, de novas modalidades de lazer e as novas formas identitárias relacionadas a este processo modernizador.

HYPOTHESIS TO THE SOCCER MASSIFICATION IN SÃO PAULO

Abstract: This article aims to discuss the social and historical aspects involved with the origins of soccer in São Paulo city during the end of the nineteen century and the it´s development in the first decades of the twentieth century. It analyze the relationship between the modernization and the urbanization process of the city, taking in consideration the growing of sports practice, new modalities of leasure, which involves the configuration of new forms of identities.
