PRIMEIRO TEMPO: FUTEBOL, SOCIABILIDADE E AS TENSÕES DA MODERNIDADE EM NOVO HAMBURGO

Resumo

Este artigo analisa a introdução do futebol no sul do Brasil, mais especificamente no Rio Grande do Sul e seu desenvolvimento nas áreas de colonização europeia, especialmente a cidade de Novo Hamburgo. Procura-se fazer uma relação entre o desenvolvimento da cidade e as suas práticas sociais atreladas ao imaginário da modernidade, tendo o futebol como um elemento do novo nessa comunidade nascente que faz a passagem da situação colonial agrícola, e depois artesanal, para o mundo urbano industrial.

Abstract: This article analyzes the introduction of football in Southern Brazil and its development in the areas of European colonization especially the city of Novo Hamburgo. It tries to link the development of the town, its practices and imaginary of modernity with football as a new element of this nascent community, which changes from a colonial situation in agriculture to the urban craft industry.
