A "CRISE" EM PERSPECTIVA COMPARADA: TEORIA POLÍTICA A PARTIR DOS CASOS DE GOZLIN RORGONIDA (834-886) e WILLIAM MELTON (1275-1340)

Abstract

“Crise” é um vocábulo historiográfico elementar. Nos estudos sobre a Idade Média, seu emprego é corrente, alcançando diversos contextos. A aplicação, no entanto, não é um procedimento neutro ou exclusivamente objetivo. “Crise” é um vocábulo classificatório, cuja eficácia descritiva na leitura documental depende de certas premissas normativas partilhadas pelos historiadores. Examinar essa fundamentação é o objetivo deste artigo. Para isso, compararemos as caracterizações de duas épocas como tempos de crise, as décadas de 880 e 1320, aqui estudadas através de dois eclesiásticos envolvidos em atividades militares. Adotar a comparação como técnica para análise da operação historiográfica permite debater a incidência de dois modelos narrativos sobre as premissas adotadas pelos estudiosos, o modelo da crise como lógica feudal e o modelo da crise como pluralismo jurídico. A hipótese defendida consiste em argumentar a favor dos ganhos científicos com a adoção do segundo modelo.
