Abstract

This article conducts a debate on the representation of the female body, exploring visualities related to Charcot’s medical clinic and French public campaigns aimed at raising awareness of violence against women. These two themes were explored, respectively, by Georges Didi-Huberman and by Elsa Dorlin, who will serve as main references for the proposed debate. By taking a critical look at visualities, we observe that the images constitute an active gesture that give unity to the female body, as they draw and explore their vulnerability.
