Abstract

This article seeks to read Marília Garcia’s latest book of poems, Expedição: nebulosa, from the perspective of its relationship with music, theories of mourning, and the memory of political violence in Brazilian society. Divided into two parts, the article analyzes, emulating a certain derivative and essayistic mode very frequent in Garcia’s work, some of the writing and compositional procedures used by the poet, especially the digressive form of the poems and the complex combination that occurs within them between personal recollection, reflection on poetic language, and the country’s recent history.
