Abstract

The article aims to understand the socioeconomic integration of people displaced by terrorism, focusing on the Malica Reception Center in the Lichinga district in northern Mozambique. The central problem lies in the difficulty of displaced people in reintegrating into a new reality, marked by dependence on humanitarian aid and a lack of economic opportunities. The justification for the research is based on the need to understand the obstacles and potential for reintegration, aiming to contribute to the formulation of more effective public policies. The methodology used was a mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative), with a basic and exploratory nature. Interviews were conducted with 2 technicians from the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management (INGD) and 21 displaced people. The results indicate that the main challenges faced by displaced people include conflict in access to land for farming, lack of food and lack of employment opportunities. The presence of structured financial support was also weak. It is concluded that the socioeconomic integration of displaced persons requires coordinated measures, inclusive policies and investments in training and employment, in order to guarantee their autonomy and contribute to local development.
