Plantios ilícitos de ‘cannabis' no Brasil: Desigualdades, alternativa de renda e cultivo de compensação

Resumo

Este artigo objetiva analisar a questão da produção de cannabis por diferenciados atores na região do Vale do São Francisco, no Nordeste brasileiro, a maior área de cultivo da planta no país. Buscou-se identificar os principais atores envolvidos no cultivo e as relações estabelecidas entre eles para discutir as razões que levam o cultivo de cannabis a se apresentar como opção de renda à falta de uma política agrícola na região e, também, refletir sobre as relações de violência. O cultivo da planta se estabelece em um contexto em que a cultura ilícita se constitui e se institucionaliza como economia complementar aos cultivos lícitos.

The article Illicit ‘Cannabis' CropsinBrazil: Inequalities, Alternative Income and Remunerated Farming intends to analyse the issue of cannabis production in the Vale do São Francisco region in Northeast Brazil, the largest area of cannabis farming in the country. To discuss the reasons that lead to the farming of this herb, we attempted to identify the principal players involved in its farming and the relations, both pacifi c and hostile, established between them. Cultivation of the plant is established against a backdrop of illicit culture formed and institutionalized as a complementary market to legal crops, an alternative source of income in the absence of an agricultural policy in the region.
