CIDADANIA E POLÍTICAS DE RECONHECIMENTO
NOTAS PARA UMA TEORIA POLÍTICA DA CIDADANIA
Abstract
Citizenship was historically associated with the development of the nation-state, comprising a category responsible for conferring rights and duties to those restricted to a certain territory or shaped by specific legal and political bonds. In the context of the emergence of new social dynamics, marked by the reconfiguration of social class issues and by the emergence of governmental rationalities concerned with the problem of experiences of recognition and disrespect experienced by certain subjects, the traditional marshallian-based model of citizenship has become fragile and unable to solve the challenges posed today. In this sense, supported by the contributions of Nancy Fraser and Axel Honneth on the processes of recognition and political-economic redistribution, this article seeks to define a new model of citizenship, associated with the politics of recognition, visualizing its potential and capabilities for a demanding citizenship.
