This article proposes a critical reading of the book e se alguém o pano (2015), based on the concept of the neutral in Roland Barthes (2003) and the notion of nothingness in Maurice Blanchot (2011). Taking the material support of the work (Derrida, 2012) as an analytical element, we aim to show how the suspension of meaning, fragmentation, and resistance to representation constitute the poetic force of the book, establishing a form of writing grounded in indeterminacy, the refusal of binary logic, and openness to becoming. In this context, Eliane Marques’s work challenges the boundaries between language, image, and history, revealing literature as a space of contingency and experimentation, where meaning does not settle but frays into sensitive intensities. Through this essayistic reading, we seek to demonstrate how the neutral is, paradoxically, both a driving force in poetry and a potent philosophical dýnamis (Derrida, 2014) of contingency.
