General aspects of sandy beaches meiofauna study

Abstract

The purpose of this summary is to provide a general overview of the scientific field of Meiobenthology, giving to the student on the subject a theoretical and practical view of the work on meio fauna. The literature dealing with sandy beaches is so widely dispersed and studies on meiofauna have so rapidly increased in volume, that a complete coverage on the subject is quite impossible. This review will achieve its goal if it is able to promote interest in the study of meiobenthology as an interdisciplinary scientific field.
