Abstract

Among other modes of plant defense against herbivory, latex stands out as particularly effective and successful. Herbivores have evolved not only biochemical ways of overcoming this barrier, but also several forms of sabotaging it only by behavioral means. In this paper we present a brief overview of known modes of sabotaging behavior and discuss some of its ecological and evolutionary implications.
