EVOLUÇÃO DE PADRÕES DE COLORAÇÃO EM ARTRÓPODES
Abstract
In the present chapter we will discuss the main aspects of the evolution of color patterns in insects and other well studied groups, as well as the appearance and maintenance of cromatic polymorphisms. We will discuss the three main processess related to the evolution of color patterns, thermoregulation, intra- and interspecific communication, and predation evasion. The last is particularly important in the maintenance of cromatic polymorph isms in prey populations.
