Abstract

This study aims analyze the Chinese infrastructure investments in South America. So as complementary objectives, seeks to analyze the pattern of South China-America relationship as well as the impacts on the South American regional integration and to Brazil as a regional leader. In order to achieve their goals, the work is structured in three sections. The first seeks to accomplish an overview of China’s goals in South America. The second section, in turn, evaluates some of the major infrastructure integration projects in South America where Chinese investments are in the majority, especially bioceanic Railroad between Brazil and Peru. The last section assesses the impact of these investments on the South American integration and the Brazilian regional leadership.
