A CONSTRUÇÃO DO MASCULINO EM TERRA E PAIXÃO SOB A ÓTICA DAS METÁFORAS MULTIMODAIS NOS PERSONAGENS RAMIRO E KELVIN

Abstract

This article aims to investigate the dominant cultural models of masculinity in modern society as legitimized by the field of soap operas, specifically in "Terra e Paixão" with the characters Ramiro (played by Amaury Lourenzo) and Kelvin (played by Diego Martins). From this perspective, we adopt the theoretical framework of multimodal metaphor proposed by Forceville (2009) and Sperandio (2015) to analyze how, through cognitive processes, we signify, interpret, and represent the world through metaphors. For the composition of the analysis corpus, we selected four excerpts from the dialogic interactions between the characters, including two that further delineate the construction of Ramiro’s masculinity and a caricatural approach to Kelvin. The third scene refers to a change in treatment, where, finally, the writer Walcyr Carrasco, due to significant positive public response, shows the couple assuming their relationship in a less stigmatized manner. Lastly, in the final chapter of the soap opera, these characteristics are blended in the wedding scene at the couple’s prison.
