Brazilian Music History in Basic Education: intellectual challenge, pedagogical exercise and political responsibility of the music educator

Abstract

The article proposes a reflection on the interdisciplinary potential of the History of Brazilian Music for pedagogical practice at the level of Basic Education, emphasizing the formative, political and ethical dimensions with which such an approach challenges the music educator. It articulates proposals found in the bibliography on Pedagogy of Music History with the reflections of History Teaching Didactics. It presents practical suggestions for setting up projects that address the specificities of Brazilian Music History contents, and respect the characteristics of the age groups in the various educational segments.
