Do I tell or not?

Abstract

The present article seeks to reflect on the potential of storytelling as a pedagogical tool. I agree with Benjamin (1994) that “knowledge is valuable in the moment of development and the narrative retains its strength and after a long time is able to develop”. The storytelling as allied to the teacher in the development of the student, provides the accomplishment of a search to reach the creative process. Narrative that provides form or rewrite concepts, acquire information and use for growing, intends to conduct to new knowledge, new ways of thinking and acting and interacting with content so that the students can became a world explorer. The storytelling is propitious to the approach of Brazilian Music History in all segments of basic education, allowing an interlocution in the classroom among: narrator, text and listener. The word – narrated, danced, counted, read, drawn, sung, written – is intended for interactions, questions, agreement or disagreements. Storytelling is the domain of fulfillment: text, narrator, reader, protagonist, imagination and memory – essential elements in the development of the student in formation through more sophisticated experiences.
