The modinha that doesn’t go out of style

Abstract

A modinha que não sai de moda is a pocket musical format that presents a repertoire of selected modinhas - authentic Brazilian musical genre – showing to the general public the evolution of this genre in all moments of its long existence. Following closely its chronology, the public can understand the transformations and melodic variations that the modinha has undergone during almost 300 years of its history. The singers, always accompanied by piano, perform several examples of dynamics both, theatrical-musical and informative. The repertoire includes “Colonial Modinhas”, “Imperial Modinhas”, “Modern Modinhas”, and "Contemporary Modinhas”, also illustrated with costumes of each period.
