Study of the audiovisual transmission of Mahler’s First Symphony by the Berlin Philharmonic
Abstract
The article aims to analyze, through qualitative and quantitative processes, the audiovisual streaming of the first movement of Gustav Mahler’s First Symphony performed by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 2019. The theoretical framework of reference is Baxter (2019), Tsivian (2018) and Salt (1974) whose proposals elucidate the instrumental described as ASL (Average Shot Lenght). The methodology is qualitative analysis by description of behavior, and quantitative analysis by kinematics. As a result, the article brings reflections on the dynamization in kinematic terms of the audiovisual language of concerts for orchestra, suggesting some of the implications and eventual problems to be eventually discussed.
