Tribute to Antonio José Augusto
Abstract
The Brazilian Journal of Music presents an issue in homage to musician and musicologist Antonio José Augusto, guest editor (in memoriam) of the volume with the thematic dossier "Brazilian music: construction, permanence and appropriations", dedicated to Heitor Villa-Lobos. The volume also includes the sections: "Memory", with an annotated republication of Francisco Curt Lange's Musical Americanism; "Interview", with transcription of testimony by Antonio José Augusto; "Resenha", dedicated to Paulo de Tarso Salles' book about the string quartets by Villa-Lobos; and "Arquivo de Música Brasileira", featuring an unpublished edition of Ondulações for cello (or violin) and piano by Homero de Sá Barreto.
