Dossier: 50 Years of the Modern World-System and 30 Years of the Long 20th Century: Thinking About the Contemporary World
Based on the reflections of these authors and their classic works, we invite those interested to submit articles on the following topics:
a) Origins, hegemonies, and hybridizations of the modern world-system.
b) Crisis of the capitalist civilization and power alternatives in the world-system in the 21st century.
c) Geopolitical disputes in the contemporary world: imperialism, multilateralism, and anti-imperialism.
d) Where is China heading? Ascension, international conflicts, class structure, and reorganization of the world-system.
e) The United States and the catastrophic stagnation of the contemporary world: international strategies, resistance, and anti-systemic struggles.
f) The State in Latin America, the crisis of democracy, and the struggles for world power.
g) The battle of ideologies and struggles for global power: fascism, liberalism, socialism, and nationalism in the transition to the long 21st century.
h) Social thinking, science, and geocultural conflicts in the world: Marxism, incorporated liberalism, decoloniality, Eurasianism, Islamism, and ethnopluralism.
i) State, social movements, and anti-systemic struggles today.
j) From anti-systemic struggles to popular power. Can popular forces govern states in the world-system of the 21st century?
k) Capitalist civilization, contemporary ecological crisis, and alternatives.
l) Systemic chaos, wars, and peace: reflections for our time.
