Abstract

The Brazilian research in occupational therapy is going through a historical moment of changes, with the creation of the first master's and doctoral occupational therapy program in South America. We aim to present the Laboratory of Functional Analysis and Assistive Technology (LAFATec) from of its historical, scope and objectives, structure of the laboratory and relate the investigations carried out from different dimensions of doing in occupational therapy. In nearly a decade of the laboratory, we had achievements and a reflection over what, where and how research continues in process, with the purpose of design the profile of LAFATec according to the needs of the population assisted by the services of occupational therapy, based on the discussions about research on the profession and also interdisciplinary partnerships with other areas of knowledge.
