Climatic inputs, related to intense and recurrent rainfall events act as catalysts of adverse geomorphological processes in urban spaces, which act as triggers of morphodynamic processes and depending on the landscape configuration possibly lead to situations of geomorphological risk to human groups. Using a systemic perspective, urban environments are considered to be in a heavily unbalanced state, that when the balance is disturbed, the system responds with variable settings, leading to a new equilibrium configuration. This article seeks to contribute to preventive planning and environmental and land management oriented to land use and spatial occupations considering the appropriation of geomorphological units of the city of Recife. We show how morphodynamic readjustments of the urban site led to a process-response relationship of dynamic natural systems linked to a high population density, giving rise to geomorphological risks scenarios.
