This article involves an attempt to analyze the actions of Vale do Rio Doce in
Carajás, located in the eastern Amazon in a scenario of environmental crisis. The analysis focuses on the relationship between the action of large corporations and their discourse of sustainability and territorial management. In today's world in which the environment is considered to be a fundamental issue, or a problem, several practices are presented as solutions to the crisis. The main objective is to understand how far these actions reach out into the territory of the eastern Amazon.
