With the advent of tourism and the introduction of objects necessary for its development, this activity became an important consumer of space, especially after the Industrial Revolution. The integrated approach to human and physical subjects in Geography, makes this discipline an important line of inquiry into this economic activity. Geographers evaluate positive and negative aspects, judging how this practice fits into local realities in order to maximize benefits and minimize impacts and degradation for both the local population and the environment. This work reviews geographical concepts for analyzing tourism in order to understand the viability of the activity in different areas.
