This short paper suggests that Plato had in mind the Pre-Socratics Empedocles when he conceived the character Eriximacus, the doctor (as Empedocles). Some passages from Empedocles compared with others of Banquet are our basis. Nevertheless we can't simply make equal both of them since Eriximacus holds a demand of no contradiction, what has not to do with Empedocles.References
