Abstract
Discussions regarding disabilities and Physical Education, in the historical, social and cultural dimensions have gained prominence in contemporary times. However, the inclusion of people with disabilities (PWD) in different social contexts remains in a utopian field. This theoretical essay, using bibliographic and documentary sources, aims to highlight concepts about the disabled body and its implications in the areas of Education and Physical Education. In this way, the intention is to stimulate the valorization of the struggles in favor of the PWD, the conquered rights and the advances in the scientific and educational fields. Such reflections lead us to conclude that only with the understanding that what is on the agenda is respect for the differences that society will have the power to transform historically consolidated images.
