UNDERSTANDING INFORMATION MANAGEMENT, EDITORIAL WORKFLOW, AND SCIENTIFIC DISSEMINATION IN A SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL: THE CASE OF THE BRAZILIAN JOURNAL OF EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN, DATA ANALYSIS AND INFERENTIAL STATISTICS (BJEDIS)
The journal is indexed in Crossref, Latindex, OpenAlex, Fatcat, and ROAD. In the present study, the journal's information management, editorial workflow, and scientific dissemination activities through social media were evaluated. Since its establishment in 2022, the journal has published eight issues and a total of 94 articles, averaging approximately 15 articles per issue. The most accessed article on the journal's website received 659 views: Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment for Spinning Yarn Production Process by Integrated FTA-FMEA Approach (article).
The journal currently has 718 registered users, including nine editors and 107 reviewers. The average time to communicate the first editorial decision is 37 days, while the time to final acceptance can reach up to 78 days.
The journal's primary scientific dissemination channel has been Instagram (BJEDIS on Instagram), where it currently has 633 followers and 102 posts. Over the past 90 days, the account recorded 1,048 views, of which 63.4% came from followers and 36.6% from non-followers. Women accounted for 39.5% of the audience, while men represented 60.5%. The predominant age group was 25–34 years, accounting for 28% of visitors. Most accesses originated in Brazil (76.6%), followed by Chile (5.5%), India (2.4%), Argentina (1.9%), and Turkey (1.1%).
Therefore, BJEDIS would benefit from further inclusion in well-established scientific indexing databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and SciELO. Nevertheless, the journal demonstrates regular publication, is registered with Crossref and assigns DOIs to its articles, operates under an open-access model, and publishes articles in English, thereby contributing to its internationalization. BJEDIS can be characterized as an emerging journal that is undergoing a strong process of both qualitative and quantitative growth.
