OTIMIZAÇÃO DA REMOÇÃO DE CORANTE AZUL DE METILENO POR MEIO DE MISTURAS DE BIOCARVÃO DE PINHA E ARGILA CAULINITA

Biocarvões são materiais com grande capacidade de adsorção, podendo ser utilizados para a remoção de poluentes da água. Para melhorar e otimizar essa capacidade de adsorção, outros materiais podem ser adicionados ao biocarvão, como as argilas, que são notórias no uso para remoção de diversos compostos presentes no meio aquoso. Misturas de biocarvão de pinha e argila caulinita foram estudadas para avaliar a adsorção do corante azul de metileno, utilizado como sonda espectrofotométrica. Para compreender o processo de adsorção utilizou-se isotermas e modelos cinéticos de adsorção, e o delineamento do composto central rotacional foi empregado para estudar o processo adsortivo. A adsorção de azul de metileno em caulinita foi consideravelmente maior, em torno de 60%, do que no biocarvão. Maior eficiência de remoção de corante foi obtida em misturas com biocarvão e 20% de caulinita para um tempo de contato com azul de metileno de cerca de seis horas, considerados os parâmetros ótimos obtidos para a remoção mais eficiente do corante de acordo com a análise multivariada empregada.
