Abstract

The Aweti language belongs to the Tupi strock and is spoken by approximately forty individuals who live in a small village on the right side oÍ tàe Tutuari river, affluent of the Kullseu in the Parque Indígena do Xingu, Mato Grosso.

In this paper are presented the preliminary conclusions about the phonology of the Aweti language, as a result of a fist field work contact with this linguistic community.
