Keywords:
omicides, public safety, dynamics, causal possibilities, violenceAbstract
Homicides in the Northeast of Brazil have grown linearly and continuously since the early 1980s. The article analyzes the dynamics of homicidal violence, its socioeconomic and institutional implications. It aims to evaluate some causal possibilities between inequality and poverty, economic performance and the role of coercive institutions in relation to homicides in the region. For that, the descriptive statistical method and the test of independent variables were used to test some hypotheses based on the specialized literature.
