Abstract

The article analyses the case of Rafael, a black and poor young man arrested and condemned for carrying an incendiary artefact during the 2013 protests in Rio de Janeiro. Through a hybrid method, a mix of case study and essay, we induce and describe the bonds which keep the singular exemplarity of this case and the policing universals together, shaping, as a result, the system of criminal justice. The main results obtained consist in demonstrating the subsumption of the system of criminal justice to operations that make valid and lawfully shape policing practices, describing some of their macropolitical effects.

Possui doutorado pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Direito (PPGD) da Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de São Paulo (USP, Brasil), com concentração em filosofia e teoria geral do direito, e mestrado pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Direito (PPGD) da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC, Brasil). Coordena o Laboratório de Pesquisa Interdisciplinar em Teoria Social, Teoria Política e Pós-Estruturalismo (Labtesp) da UEPG.
