From reading the novel O outro pé da sereia, by Mia Couto, this article will examine the body discursivities, considering its diasporic condition in which, exposed to displacement and reworkings, there is the flexibility of its meaning and significance. Dispensing essencialisms and authenticity, the body becomes a hybrid sign that allows the coexistence of multiple identities.
