Interview with filmmaker Sol de Carvalho.
Summary biography of the interviewee:
João Luís Sol de Carvalho was born in 1953 in Mozambique. From 1972 to 1974 he studied cinema in Portugal. Shortly after the end of the Salazar regime, he returned to his native country to join the Liberation Front of Mozambique, FRELIMO. During this period, he also participated in the project Kuxa Kanema, which consisted in filming the image of the people and returning it to the people. He was director of Rádio Moçambique and Tempo journal. In 1986, he definitely embraced his cinematographic career and has performed more than 20 films since then, among them: O Jardim do Outro Homem, A Janela, O Búzio, As Teias da Aranha. His works are known for their social and pedagogical nature.
