Abstract

The concept of elegy, so important to the history of literature, suffered, over the  development of the language, an important thematic and formal change. Roughly, its  applicability has become broader, based on a wider meaning of losing. This article intends,  therefore, to recognize, as an initial rite for a doctoral research we're developing, the various  elegiac modalizations staged in Mozambique's poetry -- especially those occurred after the  1950's --, investigating the many facets of loss outlined by poets like José Craveirinha, Virgílio  de Lemos, Glória de Sant'Anna, among others.
