A SMALL LITERARY TRIPTYCH: “OLHOS DESLUMBRADOS”, BY FERNANDO COUTO
Abstract
The poem “Olhos deslumbrados”, by Fernando Couto, is interpreted as a small ‘retable of words’, an artistic triptych divided into three moments, all linked to the symbol of the child’s gaze. Our methodological strategy aims to capture this remarkable symbolic representation and its theoretical-existential coherence, with the help of Antonio Candido (2006, 1985), Chevalier and Gheerbrant (1999), Coelho (1986) and the ‘consensual word’ of Mozambican authors. Our bibliographical research comes from pedagogical activities in Interdisciplinary Graduation in African and Afro-Brazilian Studies – LIESAFRO – at the Federal University of Maranhão – UFMA.
