This essay aims to reflect, considering the novel A Vênus crioula by the Cape Verdean author Vera Duarte as its central disseminating element, and drawing on the theoretical and critical support of different areas of knowledge such as Literary Theory, literary criticism, Art History, Anthropology, Sociology, Iconology, Painting Theory and Comparative Aesthetics, on the possible interfaces between literary art and, predominantly, the visual arts, opting to analyze the metamorphoses of the imago mundi of Aphrodite/Venus in the history of art and humanity, the "afterlife" of classical images up to the present day, and its representations in Cape Verdean context.
