In this essay, we aim at establishing a close reading of the poems "Evocação do Recife", written in 1925 by Manuel Bandeira and published in Libertinagem, and “Poema à cidade”, written by Duarte Galvão -- heteronym used by the Mozambican poet Virgílio de Lemos while he was in the guerrilla -- in 1954 and published in the brief anthology Eroticus Moçambicanus. From the dialogue between these two poems, we'll scrutinize both how they evoke the cities and the linguistic procedures they put in practice.
