Dear Researcher,
We hope this message finds you well. We are excited to extend an invitation to you for the special edition of Oecologia Australis titled "Teaching Ecology: Challenges and Possibilities." This edition aims to delve into the teaching of Ecology, encompassing the training of ecologists, Science, and Biology educators, as well as the teaching of Ecology within the realm of Basic Education.
In the context of our rapidly changing climate and other critical shifts in human and planetary relationships, we believe it is imperative to address how we teach Ecology. This endeavor, in conjunction with research focused on ecological studies, holds the potential to foster alternative ways of interacting with our environment, which we collectively refer to as "nature." To this end, it is crucial to contemplate and discuss the teaching of Ecology in basic education to address these evolving demands. Additionally, the education and training of future ecologists and professionals, who will be recognized as stewards of our ecological systems, emerge as a pivotal and strategic concern.
We invite you to be a part of this special edition of Oecologia Australis, which will explore the various avenues that influence the teaching of Ecology. This includes its instruction in the education of Ecologists within universities, as well as its role in school-based education and knowledge production in the field of ecology. This topic aligns with the ongoing discussions within the ABECO GT on Education and Teaching.
Oecologia Australis (OA) is an open access, peer-reviewed international journal committed to facilitating global research and information exchange in Ecology and related disciplines. We welcome original articles, opinions, scientific reviews, and communications in English, Portuguese, or Spanish.
